Jones, Loyd & Co
Jones, Loyd & Co (c.1784-1864), established in the City of London, was a past constituent of NatWest.
Brief history
This private bank was established by Joseph Jones in about 1784 as Joseph Jones & Co. It was created as an offshoot from John Jones & Co of Manchester, and was intended to act as that bank's London agency.
The bank was originally located in Watling Street, but moved to Walbrook, and then in about 1788 to Lothbury. In 1791 Joseph Jones was joined by his brother Daniel, and the firm became known as Joseph & Daniel Jones & Co. It was known as Jones, Loyd & Co from 1808. The link with the Manchester bank was severed in 1848 due to partnership changes.
In 1864 the bank was acquired by London & Westminster Bank.
