We are delighted to invite you to our flagship UK Sustainable Finance Day on 27 March 2024 in London, focused on the “Decarbonisation of the UK’s Real Economy through Transition Plans and Financing”.

2024 and beyond will be defined by countries, companies and institutions developing and achieving a credible transition plan to reach net zero by 2050 – this ambition will require significant decarbonisation in the real economy and collaboration between companies, financial intermediaries, investors, insurers, data providers, auditors and regulators, in addition to the support of policymakers.

The event is a cross-cutting initiative designed to bring together a range of stakeholders from across the UK to accelerate this transformation and to identify tangible solutions.

Lord Nicholas Stern, Chairman of LSE’s Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment and NatWest Group’s independent climate advisor, will provide a joint keynote address on the macro drivers impacting global climate progress. Chris Stark, Chief Executive of the Climate Change Committee, will speak alongside Lord Stern, and provide a digest on the UK’s Net Zero transition journey and implications of the Transition Plan Taskforce.

This address will be followed by a panel discussion centred around “What does Decarbonisation mean across the Financial Ecosystem and the Real Economy” with:

  • Katie Murray, CFO, NatWest Group
  • Rhian-Mari Thomas, CEO, Green Finance Institute
  • Sophie Walker, Head of Sustainability – Private Capital (Europe & North America), EQT Partners GmbH
  • Steve Waygood, Chief Responsible Investment Officer, Aviva Investors
  • James Close, Head of Climate Change & Environment (Moderator), NatWest Group

After the panel discussion, there will be two workshops that will draw on the experience and expertise of various external practitioners and our own thought leadership experts, including:
